Who writes the unwritten rules?

Even if you’re not a sports fan, you might’ve heard the latest controversy when it comes to the hot mess that is baseball. On Monday night during the Padres and Rangers game, the Padres were up 10-3 in the 8th inning when Fernando Tatis Jr came up to bat with the bases loaded. With a 3-0 count, Tatis took the next pitch over the fence for a grand slam. Instantly baseball fans everywhere started arguing over whether that was acceptable behavior or not.

In my opinion? You don’t want someone to hit a grand slam off you, don’t give him a good pitch to hit. Why because the pitcher got himself into trouble with the bases loaded and 0 strikes does the batter have to watch the next pitch? Makes no sense to me.

Now I’m not saying unwritten rules should not be followed, or even gotten rid of, but maybe it’s time we take a look and realize that times change. Check out this Bleacher Report article on the 25 biggest unwritten rules in baseball.

I don’t understand the controversy. Aren’t these people “professionals?” I think those crying about this have some growing up to do. Yikes!
